Donations

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

We have had 2 very good donations recently; one of £500 from The Eleanor Rathbone Trust and one for £200 form The Proven Family Trust. I sent about 50 letters out to various Charity Trusts asking for donations. It’s worked up to now.

So, as you can see, we have had a very busy and successful year. However, we would like a little more help. Is there anyone out there who would like to lend a hand now and again? Perhaps you could organise a quiz night or jumble sale or coffee morning. Anything would be welcome.

Thank you.

Craft Fair in the Pavilion, Birkenhead Park

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

I think the people in Birkenhead must be getting fed up with us by now. (Only kidding) They have been very generous. This was anew craft fair that hadn’t been there before and we were offered a free table as we are a charity. We couldn’t miss this opportunity to get to know other stall-holders and raise even more for the charity. It was over the 2 days but only from 11.00am to 3.00pm. We finished the weekend taking £225.00.

Collection at Central Station AND Christmas Fair at Ashville Lodge

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

We really had our work cut out that day. 10.00am we landed at Central Station in Liverpool, set up the banners, started to collect until 12.00 noon when our relief crew arrived. Then we dashed to Ashville Lodge in Birkenhead to take part in the Craft Fair.

We had arranged to set the stall up on Friday and for someone to ‘man’ the stall for us till we arrived at 12.30pm. By 4.00pm we had had enough and were glad to see other stalls packing up. Altogether it was a very successful day; £341.80 from Central Station and £221.50 from the craft fair.

Cheltenham Race Course

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

We were at Cheltenham Race Course for the whole weekend, not for the racing this time, but with the Ladies Association of Barbershop Singers. We took everything we had to sell as we knew there would be over 3000 people there for the weekend, mainly ladies. We sold mainly jewellery and some cards and framed pictures and we made £860 all together. It was a strenuous weekend, but worth while.

World Sight Day at Ashville Lodge

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Once again back to the Pavilion in Birkenhead Park. This time it was for World Sight Day, and we were there mainly to raise the awareness of the charity. Among those there were The Wirral Society of the Blind and Partially Sighted, The Liaison Officer from The Eye Clinic, Arrowe Park Hospital and his assistant, the RNIB, and various commercial firms with their goods for sale. This was not a day for selling but it was very interesting meeting all the different people involved with helping those with vision problems.
