Paul’s niece, Jane, belongs to the West Haddon Players. The group who put on several performances each year donate the proceeds to a designated charity. This year’s charity was The Eye Fund.

Carol and Paul were presented with a cheque for £1500 at the player’s annual barbeque. What amazing generosity!

Eyedesign Exihibition Success

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

The Eye Fund celebrated a wonderful opening of the Eyedesign exhibition in the new Pavilion in Birkenhead Park.

Over 50 people attended the opening – performed by Mike McCartney, Wirral’s Cultural Ambassador… AND NOW The Eye Fund Patron.

Simon’s wonderful designs were the main feature, supported by some amazing impressions of his graphics by several professional artists. The Children of Bidston Avenue Primary school played no small part by entering their own canvases.

Family and friends travelled from varying parts of the UK to attend and add their love and support for Simon and his work.

A cheque to the value of £4,500 was presented to the Wirral Society of the Blind and Partially sighted to fund our very first Eye Fund counsellor, now working in Arrowe Park Hospital.

If you missed it you can contribute by donating to The Eye Fund (download a copy of the mandate form).

The aim of The Eye Fund trustees and Simon’s family is to have Eye Fund counsellors helping people like Simon in several hospitals.

Please help us to realise this.

Eyefund Events 2009

Sunday, January 11th, 2009
  • Grand Opening of Simon’s Exhibition

Wednesday, 11th March The Pavilion Gallery, Birkenhead Park, Wirral. Featuring:

    • Celebrated graphic designs from Simon Sherry
    • Impressions of Simon’s work from professional artists in different media from across the UK
    • Competition winning designs from children of Bidston Primary School

Grand Opening Ceremony by Wirral’s Cultural Ambassador Mike McCartney, opening to the public on 12th March until Saturday, 21st March.

This was a very successful exhibition. The intention was to raise the profile of the charity, but in the meantime we took over £1000. Not bad!

  • Quiz Night at the RAFA

Friday, 20th March, at The RAFA Club, Formby, Victoria Road, Formby, L37 1LG.

Doors open at 7.00pm and the fun starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost just £5.00 and that includes a hot pot supper. (Not bad, heh?) Teams from 2 to 6. There will be many cash prizes and a raffle. Remember, this is for CHARITY!

Again another successful night’s entertainment. Well done! Sandra for all your hard work.

  • Charity Dinner at the Capitol

Date: Sunday, 3rd May, at the Capitol Restaurant, Birkenhead. Tickets costing £30 will be on advanced sale soon. A full Chinese banquet is included in the price along with entertainment. Keep looking! By popular demand we have to have another Charity night at The Capitol. The last one was a sell-out and a great success, and we have been asked to hold another one.

Not as well supported as last year but we all had a tremendous evening with Andy as a compere and Simon the magician. Thank you Steve Tam for lending us your rerstaurant. A very good profitable night.

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

The Eye Fund is having an art exhibition of some of Simon’s graphics. Professional artists will be contributing some of their own impressions of Simon’s designs. Local schoolchildren have been working hard making their own copies of the same pictures.

Art by Simon Sherry

This is to be held from 12th March to 21st March in The Pavilion, Birkenhead Park, Wirral. The grand opening by Mike McCartney, Wirral’s Cultural Ambassador takes place on the 11th March by invitation only.

2008 Roundup

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Simon’s family wish all of his friends and supporters a very happy Christmas and a good 2009. Raise a glass to him at New Year.

The Eye Fund has had a very good first year: upwards of £26,000 has been raised. There is a counsellor already working at a Wirral Eye Clinic, funded by The Eye Fund. Next year 2 more counsellors will be helping people like Simon, in London and Liverpool.

We would like to thank everyone. Please keep helping. Have you thought of a monthly donation of as little as £5? Download the form for more information. Every little helps!
